Bakugan Game Rules - The Basics

In order to battle at the basic level, each player needs:
There are 4 types of gate card, to understand gate cards click here.
- A Bakugan Battle Brawler

The Battle Brawlers each have different G-Power ratings and attributes which give a G-Power Boost in battle, to understand battle brawlers click here.
How to battle (basic steps):
- Lay cards face down on a flat surface.
- When 2 brawlers stand on a gate card, battle takes place.
- The player with the highest total G-Power is the winner (see ’A' below).
- The battling stops when all cards have been captured.
A. TOTAL G-POWER = G-POWER RATING + G-POWER BOOST
Things you must consider before beginning a battle:
- The Bakugan Battle Brawlers will only “stand” when they are sitting on a Bakugan Gate Card .
- You must shoot your Bakugan Battle Brawlers from a minimum of 2 card lengths away.
- The youngest player shoots first.
- The winner of a battle goes first in the next round.
- If you stand 2 brawlers on a card you automatically capture that card.
- If after a battle the total G-Power is a tie, ’sudden fury’ ensues. This is similar to sudden death in a football penalty shootout, the first player to stand their brawler on the card with the other player failing to wins the battle. If you both stand on the card or both miss, shoot again!
Now you understand the basic rules, you can begin battling.
If you wish to carry out an arena battle, it is recommended that you continue reading the Bakugan Game Rules through to the finish and practice shooting Bakugans!

Bakugan Game Rules - Understanding Gate Cards
August 18, 2008
<<< Back to ‘Bakugan Game Rules - The Basics’
The front of a gate card is called the Holo Sector and the back of a gate card is called the Sector which contains the Bakugan logo.

There are 4 types of Bakugan gate cards:
- Normal Card
- Character Card
- Command Card
- Ability Card
1. Normal Card

2. Character Card

3. Command Card

4. Ability Card

The meanings:
- Card Names - These are simply the name that is given to the card and appear in the top right corner of the gate card.
- G-Power Boosts - These increase / decrease your Bakugan Warriors G-Power rating depending on the attribute logo contained on your Bakugan Brawler. These are crucial as when they help form your total rating which decides whether you have won your battle. To identify the attribute logo on your Battle Brawler, click here.
- Effects - The effect on each card indicates what effect the gate card has on the battle. These can range from ‘All Raptors in this sector get double their base HSP value’ to ‘The Bakugan that opened last in this battle can claim one of their fallen Bakugan back from each other player’. Generally, the effect on a Character Card is that any Brawlers that match the card receive double points
- HSP (Holo-Sector Points) - The HSP value in the bottom right hand corner of each card are the number of points you receive if you win your bakugan battle and capture the gate card.

Bakugan Game Rules - Understanding Battle Brawlers
August 18, 2008
<<< Back to ‘Bakugan Game Rules - The Basics’
Your Bakugan Battle Brawlers can help you win other brawlers and increase your collection. However, they can just as easily be lost in battle. This is why it is important to fully understand the brawlers to help you make the right decisions when preparing for battle…
- G-Power Rating
The G-Power rating of your Bakugan Battle Brawler goes a considerable way to winning a battle. The higher this value, the better, and the more chance you have of capturing other Bakugans and improving your collection. The G-Power rating is shown somewhere on the inside of the Bakugan. Remember, the Brawler has to stand on the gate card for you to view the G-Power rating.

The G-Power rating on the above brawler is 350G, this when added to the G-Power boost which is explained below helps form the your battle brawler’s total G-Power which decides whether you win or lose.
- G-Power Boosts
Which G-Power boost applies to your battle brawler depends on the attribute logo on the brawler itself. This is usually on the outside of the brawler and can easily be identified, as shown below.

This attribute logo will then match one of the six G-Power boost logos on the gate card that you have stood on in a battle (2 or more Bakugan Battle Brawlers standing on one gate card). The number that is shown on top of that logo is the boost that is added to the original G-Power rating shown above. This number can be positive or negative so it can strengthen or weaken your chances of success.
Each attribute has meanings and their own strengths and weaknesses… to find out more about Bakugan attributes, click here.

Bakugan Game Rules - Prepare For Battle
August 18, 2008
<<< Back to ‘Bakugan Game Rules’
Selection is extremely important when engaging in a Bakugan Battle Brawl. Selecting your best Bakugan Battle Brawlers and suitable gate cards will give you the advantage in any battle. Below are the rules that you must bear in mind when preparing for battle…
- A battle may take place between 2-4 players
- You must select your ‘deck’ of brawlers and gate cards that you are going to use before you start battle commences. This means you must make your choices wisely.
- Each player must select a minimum of 3 bakugan brawlers and 3 gate cards to use.
- All players must start with the same amout of brawlers and cards.
- A ‘deck’ of cards may have 1 special ability card only (your special ability card cannot be the first card a player lays down).
- Take it in turns to place your cards onto a flat surface face (sector side) down, 1 card each at a time. You must lay cards down furthest from you and each card must touch another card on 1 full side, as shown below:

Now you have your brawlers and gate cards selected, and the arena is set, it’s time to battle…

Bakugan Game Rules - The Battle

<<< Back to ‘Bakugan Game Rules’
Now the arena has been set, it’s time to do battle…
- Each player shoots a bakugan warrior. Remember to take it in turns anti-clockwise from the first player to shoot (the youngest!)
Shooting your Bakugan…

- If your Bakugan Battle Brawler does not stand on a card, collect it from the playing area. You then miss a turn to battle until next time and it is then the turn of the player on your left.
- If your Bakugan does stand on a card, it is left there until another player’s warrior lands on the same card, then battle commences (shown above).
- If you land 2 brawlers on a single card, you automatically win the gate card and keep your 2 brawlers.
- If you have no Bakugan left, you must skip your turn. You may not choose to skip your turn if you have any Bakugan left.
- Once a shot has been made, that player may choose to add another card from their gate card pile to the battle ground. You should do this if you want to capture a Bakugan Battle Brawler from another player by battling on it at a later time in the game.
Remember, in a battle…
- The player with the highest total G-Power is the winner (see ’A' below).
A. TOTAL G-POWER = G-POWER RATING + G-POWER BOOST
* The winner collects the gate card and the opponents battle brawler *
* When you capture a gate card, you should keep it in a separate pile to your battle cards, this is so that you can easily add up your HSP to calculate the overall game winner *
-
If after a battle the total G-Power is a tie, ’sudden fury’ ensues. This is similar to sudden death in a football penalty shootout, the first player to stand their brawler on the card with the other player failing to wins the battle. If you both stand on the card or both miss, shoot again!
End of the game…
- The battling stops when all cards have been captured.
- The overall winner is the one with the highest amount of total HSP (see ‘B’ below). Each Bakugan that you have is worth 100HSP. The captured cards HSP is the total HSP shown in the bottom right hand corner of each card you captured in battle.
B. TOTAL HSP = BAKUGANS HSP + CAPTURED CARDS HSP
